Dr. Theresa A. Scholz, M.D., MBA
Theresa A. Scholz, M.D., M.B.A. has a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and graduated with honors in medicine from the University of Colorado Health Services Center (UCHSC) in Denver, Colorado. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at UCHSC, and her Dermatology residency at the University of Utah Medical Center. During residency in Utah, Dr. Scholz was the dermatologist who helped develop a patented instrument to measure the carotenoid content of the skin using Raman spectroscopy. This instrument is currently used to measure the effect of vitamin supplementation, and for continuing research in anti-oxidation of the skin. Prior to her career in Medicine, Dr. Scholz was a Product Development manager for the Procter and Gamble company out of Cincinnati, Ohio, living and traveling worldwide for the Company.
Dr. Scholz is a board certified fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Society of Pediatric Dermatology, and is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She is the recipient of the Goltz award for excellence in dermatology, and has published in the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery, Pediatric Dermatology, and Cosmetic Surgery. She has served on committees of the American Academy of Dermatology during the years 1996-1999. Dr. Scholz has presented numerous posters at scientific meetings and enjoys speaking to groups on topics ranging from skin cancer to cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Scholz specializes in cosmetic dermatologic procedures, including IPL Photorejuvenation, erbium: YAG/CO2 laser peels, chemical peels, collagen injections, Botox for wrinkles and extra sweating, laser hair removal, and sclerotherapy/laser leg vein treatment. She is also expert in treating age spots, scars, stretch marks, port wine stains, hemangiomas, telangiectasia, spider veins, tattoos, and brown sun spots in her private practice. Appointments within 24 hours of calling the office are always available for emergencies.
Dr. Scholz is an Arvada native. She enjoys golfing, ballroom dancing, music, travel, and volunteering. Dr. Scholz is a Spanish and German student, as well as a retired private pilot. She and her husband make their home in Arvada, while their grown daughters live in the mid-west. She loves her work in dermatology which she says 'is her calling', and looks forward to meeting and talking with you regarding any of your Cosmetic or Medical dermatology skin, hair, or nail care needs.
Dr. Kathleen Y. Sawada, M.D.
Kathleen Y. Sawada, M.D., FAAD, Captain, USNR MC Retired, has been in practice in Colorado since 1991. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado in EPO Biology, and she is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She graduated from the Bowman Gray School of medicine (Wake Forest University) and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (Medical Honor Society). She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the Naval Hospital San Diego and served aboard the USS Hector AR7 as their General Medical Officer, and subsequently as Chief of Staff at the Naval Medical Clinic in Albany, Georgia. She completed her Dermatology Residency at the Medical College of Virginia where she was Chief Resident in her senior year.
Dr. Sawada is a board certified member of the American Academy of Dermatology where she served on the AAD's committee for FDA Therapeutics/FDA Liaison Task Force (March 1999-2001). She currently serves as the representative from Colorado to the CAC committee of the AAD and represents the members of the Colorado Dermatological Society as their representative to Colorado's Medicare Carrier. She has presented lectures to the Colorado School Nurses Association in 2001, 2002 at their annual meetings. She has given several presentations to groups on a wide range of dermatology related topics. Dr. Sawada recently participated in the Bioterrorism Awareness presentation to the County Medical Society. She holds membership status with the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, The Pacific Dermatology Society, and Women's Dermatology Society, the Retired Officers Association, American Society of Military Surgeons, Military Dermatology Society, American Medical Associations, Colorado Medical Society, Clear Creek Valley Medical Society, and is Vice-president of the MWMPA IPA. She currently holds a 2 year appointment with the FDA CDER committee on Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drug Advisory Committee (DODAC) that meets in Washington DC for the FDA. Dr. Sawada retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve on April 1, 2002 completing a 21 year career in service to her country.
Dr. Sawada's interests in dermatology are focused on General Medical and Surgical Dermatology of adults and children. She enjoys dermatologic procedures that include sclerotherapy, Botox for wrinkles, chemical peels and microdermabrasion.
Dr. Sawada enjoys the company of her family and friends, and assorted pets. She enjoys theater, opera, music, cooking and travel, and escapist entertainment. She is an active member of the High Hopes Investment Club (NAIC) and aspires to be a student for life. She is passionate about her work and her patients and looks forward to serving you for your dermatologic needs.
