Collagen and Resytlane

Not everyone is blessed with lips they love! Lips change, becoming wrinkled, thinner or less full and luscious, over time and through sun exposure. And sometimes when the skin ages, furrows, creases and wrinkles can form because the supporting structure of the skin breaks down. These unwanted effects can be reversed with collagen and Restylane treatments.

What is Collagen?
Collagen is bovine (cow) derived, and is a substance that makes up the dermis, or deeper part of the skin. It can be injected into lines and creases, renewing the appearance of the skin temporarily. Collagen treatments last approximately 3 months before needing to be redone. They are FDA approved, however patients must have tests done prior to each collagen treatment, to be sure they will not react to minute protein impurities contained in the collagen.

What is Restylane and How Does it Work?
Restylane is naturally occuring hyaluronic acid, and is a non-FDA approved substance, used for safe, effective treatment of lines, creases and wrinkles. It is also used to reduce the appearance of scars.

Restylane is hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring nourishing substance found in our skin. Hyaluronic acid is the 'food' and 'drink' of the cells that make collagen in our skin. Restylane treatments simply 'plump up' indentations and creases in the skin, in a very natural way. Restylane treatments last on the average 9 months. They do not require 'test' treatments prior to use.

Restylane treatments are excellent to restore the 'cupid's bow' area of the lip, and to make the edge of the lip crisp, as it is in children. The edge of the lip becomes even, and sharp, keeping lipstick in place and providing a natural, youthful lip appearance. People who suffer from droopy corners of the lip can also obtain relief with Restylane.
